B. Manjunath: A Torchbearer of Three Generations of Animal Healers

In the heartlands of Karnataka, where animals are more than just livelihood—they are family—lives a story that spans three generations. A story of healing, heritage, and humility.

B. Manjunath, a dairy farmer and traditional animal healer, is the living bridge between ancient knowledge and compassionate service—continuing a powerful legacy passed down from his grandfather, a Veterinary Chief, and his father, a renowned Ayurvedic healer.

🐄 A Lineage Rooted in Animal Care

  • His grandfather (Suhasini's great-grandfather): Served as the Veterinary Chief, representing one of the earliest pillars of institutional animal care in the region. He brought clinical veterinary practices to rural India at a time when modern resources were scarce, earning deep respect across villages.

  • His father (Suhasini’s grandfather): A deeply respected Ayurveda-based healer, who used herbs, oils, roots, and plant extracts to treat both people and animals. He was a man of instinct and insight—known not for certifications, but for cures that worked.

  • B. Manjunath: Raised watching both systems—modern veterinary science and indigenous plant wisdom—he chose to serve animals through the Ayurvedic path, walking barefoot into cowsheds with nothing but turmeric, neem, and trust. Since the early 1980s, he’s been preparing herbal lepas, powders, and oils to treat mastitis, infections, wounds, and internal ailments in cows, buffaloes, and goats.

🌿 The Man with the Golden Hands and Grounded Heart

Manjunathanna, as he is fondly called, never chased fame or fortune. He simply served.

He didn’t open a clinic. He opened his heart.
He didn’t seek business. He sought healing.

Farmers from nearby villages would come to him with sick animals, often with no money to offer. He never turned anyone away. His focus was always the same: “Did the cow eat today?” “Is the swelling gone?” “Is the animal walking again?”

He never advertised. His work spoke louder than words.

👧🏽 The Daughter Who Watched and Carried It Forward

His daughter, Suhasini, watched closely.
As a little girl, she followed him into cowsheds, helped grind herbs, and learned to recognize animal pain with just a glance.

Today, Suhasini is the founder of Dhenukriya Ayurvet Private Limited, a startup that blends the age-old formulas of her father and ancestors with modern packaging, documentation, and distribution—bringing safe, Ayurvedic veterinary care to farmers across India.

What began in a quiet village with one man and a few herbs is now touching hundreds of lives—both human and animal.
